Lucas received formal training at the Shishahai Table Tennis Training Center in Beijing since he was a child.

He won the Canadian Junior Championship in 2011 and won three medals for Albert Province in the 2015 Canadian Winter Games. In 2022, he won the men's top 16 at the national Championships.
